-Speaker Biographies-

Travis Stearns is an attorney with the Washington Appellate Project. He has worked in public defense for most of his career, previously with the Washington Defender Association, the Whatcom County Public Defender, and New York City’s Legal Aid Society. Travis is an adjunct professor at Seattle University School of Law, the director of NLADA’s Appellate Defender Training program, a member of the Washington State Supreme Court’s Minority and Justice Commission, the former chair of the National Alliance of Indigent Defense Educators, and the chair of the Washington State Bar Association’s Council on Public Defense. He is a nationally recognized trainer, specializing in advocacy skills training, juvenile justice, collateral consequences, and leadership development.
