Andrea K. Rufo is the Director of the Crime Victims’ Rights Project at Legal Action of Wisconsin, Inc. The CVRP provides free legal representation to alleged crime victims to protect their rights within active criminal cases, with an emphasis on protection of their privacy. The CVRP was a 2018 Wisconsin Legal Innovator of the Year. Attorney Rufo has presented on issues of victims’ rights both nationally at the National Legal Aid and Defender Association Conference and the National Crime Victim Rights Institute, and done several trainings in Wisconsin on victim rights for advocates, victim witness professionals, and with district attorney offices. Prior to working at Legal Action, she was an Assistant State Public Defender in the Kenosha office for nine years, for which she still misses her group of co-workers every day (you guys know who you are). She received her law degree from Emory University of Law and has a Master’s in Women’s Studies from Ohio State University. She reads obsessively, has very strong opinions about mushrooms, and anxiously awaits the day an explosion turns her into Captain Marvel.
